GREAT LEADERS KNOW WHAT MAKES THEIR ORGANIZATION UNIQUE

Who Would Miss You If You Were Gone?

GREAT LEADERS KNOW WHAT MAKES THEIR ORGANIZATION UNIQUE

GREAT LEADERS KNOW WHAT MAKES THEIR ORGANIZATION UNIQUE- eric miller.us
Great leaders have clearly defined their ideal customer situation and what makes them unique in the marketplace. Having this clarity, they have identified what makes them superior to the competition in giving a predictable customer engagement. These leaders know specifically who would miss them if their organization ceased to exist.

Even legendary Companies Fail to Remain Unique
Who Would Miss You If You Were Gone?- eric miller.us
Kodak, a technology company that dominated the photographic film market during most of the 20th century failed to innovate. The company blew its chance to lead the digital photography revolution as they were in denial for too long. Steve Sasson, the Kodak engineer, actually invented the first digital camera back in 1975. But it was filmless photography, so management’s reaction was, ‘that’s cute—but don’t tell anyone about it.” The leaders of Kodak failed to see digital photography as a disruptive technology. As a result, they were no longer unique in the marketplace and went bankrupt in 2012. Unless you’re a Gen Xer or an older Millennial you wouldn’t miss them or might not have even heard of them.

Continuous Improvement Drives Superior Business Performance
Do you know how your product or idea is unique in a crowded market? If you don’t know the answer to that question, more than likely you would not be missed in the competitive marketplace.

Focus your efforts in defining how your product is superior to the competition. This will help you in creating your ideal customer avatar. Having business success is what every leader wants. Each stakeholder should know “what” to do, and “why” to do it. As a result they will know “how” to lead themselves with an excellence response when delivering on the company’s promise.

Improvements are based on small changes, not only on major paradigm shifts or new inventions. This concept is important because large changes often feel frightening and insurmountable. By approaching change in small, incremental steps, continuous improvement reduces the fear factor and increases speed to improvement.
