Don’t Want to Surrender to Circumstances? Here’s what I did.
HOW RESILIENT LEADERS LEVERAGE PROBLEMS AND PAIN
Do you feel like your problems are always above you? It's like you're continually overcoming something. At some point, your energy gets low and you want to just sink into the couch. But, still, more and more challenges come your way. Not only that, but they keep getting bigger and bigger.
If this sounds like you, I’ve been where you are. I’ve had plenty of days where I wanted to crumble into a thousand pieces and give up. All of my worries and responsibilities weighed heavily on me and affected me at every turn. As a highly-competitive, success-driven person, I told myself I could handle all of the challenges surrounding me. I believed that if I worked harder, those difficulties would pass me by.
Instead, those difficulties became harder. They piled up, one after another, like heavy burdens on my back that I could never free myself from. These were my problems. My challenges. I couldn’t quit, and I couldn’t shut down or block them out. I had to deal with them.
So, I had a decision to make: I could either feel overwhelmed and stressed about what might come next, or I could up-tick my skills, so they were higher than my problems. When I chose to work on my skills instead of focusing on my setbacks, my problems no longer loomed above me. Instead, I began to rise above and conquer them.
An interesting thing happened when I made this choice: I began looking at my problems in a different light. Instead of standing at the foot of these massive walls barricading me from the life of my dreams, I saw them as opportunities to strive for, and reach, a higher level. Difficulties were no longer something to be afraid of, but something to bring about positive transformation in my life.
With challenges as my inspiration, I changed my life for the better. Problems are now my bridge, not my burden. I use those perceived tricky times to pave my way toward success and fulfillment.
If I made this change in my life, so can you. Trust me, I’ve been there and I know this sounds too good to be true, but it works.
LEVERAGE CIRCUMSTANCES TO MAKE YOU BETTER
Instead of letting tough circumstances control your life, change your mindset about them. Take back control of your life and use these times of opportunities as nudges to level up your skills and outpace your challenges. Rise above your problems instead of struggling beneath their weight.
When we work and work without having clarity of what we ultimately want, we end up at a completely different destination than what we wanted. I was doing that, and I felt like a failure as if my soul was deflated like a balloon, unfulfilled and unhappy.
Is it time to ditch the hamster wheel and the endless, monotonous miles in favor of something so much better? Creating an UNCOMMON outcome, requires that we do UNCOMMON things.
It’s possible to achieve your goals AND enjoy the journey at the same time. That’s right. Simply shift your focus to what you ultimately want, and your goals will come into alignment with your vision. Then…. choose to enjoy the process.
