Everyone wants to get more done and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. Many performance coaches hear from their clients that they want to increase their productivity in order to achieve their goals. Technology has streamlined many mundane tasks that were once done by an individual. We certainly aren’t leaving the information age, so we have to leverage those tools, so they don’t leverage us.

Online marketers know that for effective advertising to produce results you have to capture the attention of the individual in the first 10 seconds or you will lose them. With attention spans decreasing and the demands of the workplace increasing, balancing technology and activities has never been more important.

HERE ARE FIVE WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY AND ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
1. MINIMIZE DISTRACTIONS

Distractions are everywhere. If you work from a computer, as most everyone does, there is the temptation to check social media and surf the Internet. Set aside time throughout the day to respond to personal messages and to check status updates on your social media accounts. Multi-tasking reduces your attention span making it harder to concentrate on the task at hand. When it’s time to work, work! It is not practical to eliminate virtual or live interruptions, the key is to manage them, so they don’t manage you.

2. WORK SMART

If you have been at a particular job or business for at least a year, you can evaluate the times that are the most productive for you. Are you an early morning person that can get the lion share of your daily tasks done before 10 am? Maybe you are the type of person that is the most productive late morning and prefer to stay at work late in the day. Many workplaces are now adopting flexible schedules for their employees and reaping the rewards of increased productivity as a result of happier employees.

3. PRIOR PLANNING PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE

For those people that map out each day of their lives this is a no brainer. For others, making a conscious effort to plan your day the night before will be a new habit. Life coaches agree that when their clients adopt this new mindset it becomes a game changer when increasing productivity. If you spend just 15 minutes before you go to bed creating your to-do list and prioritizing it, you will have a head start on your day when the morning comes around. When creating a to-do list, pick the most important tasks and put a star next to them as reminders that they have top priority in achieving big goals.

4. TAKE A BREAK AND RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES

Simply changing your environment will help you reduce stress and recharge your batteries. You might wonder how is taking time away from my work going to make me more productive? This simple mindset can have a powerful impact and increase your productivity exponentially. Setting aside 15-20 minutes three times a day is the advice that many great life coaches give their clients that makes them more productive achievers. Take a brisk 20- minute walk, meditate with some favorite music, or sit in the park and observe nature. The science behind this says that the natural feel good chemicals are released, that recharge your batteries making you more focused and clear when returning.

5. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE

After setting big and exciting goals, keep them in sight at all times. We’ve talked about leveraging technology, use your smart phone to have your list of goals easily assessable. Professional life coaches have found it effective to have their clients review the list of goals throughout the day, 5-7 times. If you are a paper person do that instead, the main objective is to keep your goals insight, so they become part of you. Start to picture yourself as the most productive person that ever had the position that you currently hold. You will soon become that productive person. Keep track of your results and work every single day to
