MAPPING THE SPECIFIC IDEAL OUTCOME

MAPPING THE SPECIFIC IDEAL OUTCOME

Name Your Vision and Achieve Your Goals

You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously.#ericmiller, #newmindsetacademy Can you think of a recent goal that you failed
Can you think of a recent goal that you failed to achieve? Or maybe you’ve achieved a goal only to feel less than enthusiastic at the end. Were you looking at the goal from the perspective of the ideal outcome that you wanted? Many professionals get stuck in addressing urgent and important issues and move away from what’s really important in goal setting. When this happens, we can get trapped in an emotional labor loop of doing things that take us away from our vision.

In coaching executives, I find many miss the most important aspect of managing time while going after goals. In these coaching sessions, I’ll ask my client what it is that they really want. Oftentimes, I’ll get a revenue goal number or a business growth number. While both of these are important, the missing piece in the puzzle is the ideal outcome that they are pursuing.

Having clarity on the ideal outcome is very important, but it doesn’t end there. It starts with the vision and naming it, followed up by creating specific, measurable, attainable, related, and time-sensitive goals that create momentum in achieving results.

WHAT IS YOUR BIG WHY?
What is your purpose or your BIG why? Simply stated, purpose is the reason WHY we do something. When you are clear about “WHY” you are doing something, you can then move closer to attaining your ideal outcome.
Ask yourself these questions to uncover your why…

What do I really want?
What is it that sparks joy in me?
What is it that would inspire me on a cloudy Monday morning?
Why does this excite me and give me energy?
Why would doing this give me purpose?

CATEGORIZE AND FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS THE MOST
Life tends to present the most challenging things at the most inopportune times. We can become easily demotivated if not focused on what is most important. Motivation is an emotion and not being conscious of what is happening to your state of mind can hook you.

What areas of your life are most important to you right now? Is it your career, life/work balance,  personal relationships?
What if you could have endless motivation? #ericmiller, #newmindsetacademy
Or is it something else? What is the cost if you don’t focus on what’s most important? Categorize what’s most important and prioritize the rest.
NAME YOUR VISION
Juice things up a bit and name each of the categories. For example, my category for health and fitness is Titan. Identifying a name that inspires you when you hear it, and it will inspire you to spend more time there.

Ask yourself these questions to uncover your category names …

What name comes to mind that inspires me?
What name would help me to have endless motivation when distractions pop up?
What can I name my vision that will shift me if I wake up in a negative state?

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO DO TO GET …?
Ask yourself these questions …

What am I willing to do to get what I want?
What beliefs do I need to change in order to achieve this vision?
What is it that I can focus on right now that will get me the result that I most want?
What specific action do I need to take right now to get what I want?
What action do I need to take that would give me an extraordinary life?

Oh, and one last thing:
