What is meditation? In a nutshell, meditation is contemplation and reflection. Meditation is one of the most powerful resources that you can tap into to relieve sadness, anxiety, fears and anger. There are many situations in life that are far beyond our control. Being stuck in traffic, the moods of a teenager, and the long lines at the checkout counter are just a few examples of daily frustrations that can disrupt inner peace. You can however choose the way in which you respond to a circumstance that causes stress. Clearing any temporary dysfunctional emotions with relaxing and calming emotions and thoughts, will help you greatly in perceiving the situation and responding appropriately.

Desire – Focus – Regulated body control – Practice - Expectation
Having a strong belief that you can and will achieve your goals will give you the inner conviction that your goal is attainable, even if it seems irrational. If you strongly believe in yourself - you will stimulate both your immune system and your motivational system into action.
 
Would you like to know a secret of how effective goal setters achieve their bigger vision? They are advanced in the practice of meditation. Incorporating time every day to a personalized meditation will allow you to reevaluate the difficulties that come with goal achievement. Having a meditative mindset will allow you to train your brain to become less attached to old behaviors that have prevented you from achieving past goals. Meditation in an invaluable resource that will help you to shift your current reality to a more desirable one. 
KEY ELEMENTS OF MEDITATION PRACTICE:

  • Maintain a state of relaxed awareness
  • Regulate your breathing
  • Be clear about the goal that you want to accomplish and create the mantra. Repeat the mantra* and have soft soothing music in the background while reciting it. You have the option of singing, chanting or silently repeating the phrase for at least 12 minutes a day.
  • Perform a simple or complex movement* with any part of the body  
*Note: from a scientific perspective each mantra and movement in any form of repetitive movement or sound helps to keep the mind focused.
 
The longer that you meditate the greater the reward. Thirty minutes to one hour each day is optimal.
