HOW TO THRIVE WHEN LIFE SUCKS6/6/2022 HOW TO THRIVE WHEN LIFE SUCKSSix Tips That Could Change Your Life Have you recently felt that you’ve been propelled into an unfamiliar new world and forced to accept it? Over the last couple of years, we’ve all lived through massive amounts of uncertainty with no option for maintaining the status quo. In times like these, the next best thing to certainty is to have a plan for what to do next. But knowing what to do next can be especially challenging if we’ve formed limiting beliefs that have paralyzed us from moving forward. I dedicated a series called Defeat Overwhelm and Leverage Your True Assets on my show, Monday Morning Motivation to help you to get into a peak state and leverage all the “bad” stuff to your benefit. How to Change Your Life with These Six Tips 1. Leverage Difficulties and Defeat Stress. Would you like to de-stress your life? What is Stress? Stress literally means a state of mental or emotional strain or tension How do we get there? We can experience stress and uncertainty in many ways. In fearful times like the ones we are living in, the need for security has been threatened. Stress is a word that achievers use instead of fear. Fear is a 4-letter word for Stress. At times, we can all get into a state of being stuck because of massive disruptions. Being able to pivot is critical in getting unstuck. Fear can be a GOOD THING if you use it to improve something. THOUGHTS TO PONDER We can leverage uncertainty to our benefit. It can be the sign that we need to change something. We can ease anxiety and fear in knowing our purpose and reframing any dysfunctional perceptions on current events. 2. Changing a Negative State Begins with Physiology Read more >>> What do you picture when you visualize Superman? Can you see the famous pose of him with his chest out, standing solid with his fists on his hips? Do you feel his power and presence in that image? What if he were slouched over with his head hanging? How confident do you think his adversaries would be in defeating him? THOUGHTS TO PONDER Changing your physiology—or posture—is one of the most powerful ways to change your state from negative to positive. 3. What We Focus on Is What We Get Read More >>> It can be easy to focus on all the “bad” stuff that is happening in the world. We can choose to focus on how bad things are and become stuck, or we can choose to see opportunity in the bad to make things better. THOUGHTS TO PONDER Think of someone that recently inspired you to do something great. What did you focus on after that experience? What we focus on can have both positive and negative implications. Be careful what you focus on—you may just get it.
Depending on our perceptions of those events, we can form limiting beliefs that affect all areas of life. THOUGHTS TO PONDER Be very careful about the meaning you assign to events. Monitor the words of the stories you tell yourself. Work towards asking yourself better questions around the events you experience. 5. Stop Getting Lucky and Value Your True Assets and Then… Be Grateful Do you realize that you have genius inside of you? It can be overlooked if we’re not in a gratitude mindset. We can perceive that we were just “lucky” in accomplishing a goal. Those natural abilities can be overshadowed, and we can miss out on how we were able to accomplish something others find very difficult, if not impossible, to accomplish. THOUGHTS TO PONDER Having gratitude for your genius can affect all of your outcomes in both positive and negative ways. Our minds make up our private reality; the secret part of ourselves that often remains a conundrum to others becomes an intimate friend or foe. 6. Curb Your Appetites for Short-term Gains and Remain Purpose Driven Read more >>> Are you a person that says yes to everything and then does nothing? Or maybe you’ve said yes to a short-term shiny object or pretty person at the expense of a long-term gain. I think at one time or another we have all overcommitted and pursued instant gratification at the expense of what we really wanted. If we don’t curb our appetites for short-term gains, they will compete for our future. THOUGHTS TO PONDER If we are not purpose-driven, we can easily become distracted and work towards someone else’s purpose or go after an instant gratification of our own.
