HOW TO QUICKLY GAIN MORE CONFIDENCE12/16/2021 HOW TO QUICKLY GAIN MORE CONFIDENCE REGAIN LOST CONFIDENCE AND ACHIEVE GOALS![]() During the height of the 2020 pandemic I made many observations about human behavior. I witnessed how some people that weren’t in leadership positions stepped forward with confidence and led well. I also observed others that were in leadership positions, become paralyzed as a result of the uncertainty and lose confidence in themselves and their ability to lead. I was also coaching during this time. Coaching clients that were purpose-driven were current on their “why” and much better able to navigate all the uncertainty. These inspirational leaders also seemed to find happiness amongst all the turmoil. WHAT CAUSES THE LACK IN CONFIDENCE?If your life has changed in any way, you might find that you feel less confident. For example, you may have suffered an illness, or experienced changes in your career path. Had a loss of a relationship. Or maybe you have put on some weight. The lack of confidence could have also built up over a period of time and has caused many areas of your life to become unmanageable. HOW TO REGAIN LOST CONFIDENCEWe all want to feel safe, avoid pain and feel comfortable in our environment. Every individual needs to have some sense of certainty and security. The degree to which certainty is needed or desired, however, varies from person to person. The past failures don’t have to be your future experiences. You can reshape your entire world and breakthrough to the next level in your relationships, career and overall happiness. Our research indicates that the majority of people have confidence in some aspects of their lives but lack it in other areas. For example: You may feel confident in your proficiency in a software program, but lack confidence when meeting new people. This could be a huge career advancement obstacle especially of your role in in business development. You might fear failing, or doubt yourself, and negative thoughts pop into your mind about your ability to do network with key decision makers. Your degree of confidence, called self-confidence, is the trust or faith that you have in yourself and your abilities. Self-esteem is the opinion you have of yourself. Accurate perceptions of confidence and positive self-esteem affect how you think and act, how you feel about others, and how successful you are in your career. Self-confident people experience uncertainty much differently than people that are fearful about the future. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to maintain a possibility mindset and place more productive meaning to chaotic events. ![]() In a nutshell, confident people have mastered their emotions. These superheroes have made easy rules to experience certainty. They have chosen better vehicles for feeling comfort, security, safety, stability, feeling grounded, predictability and protection. They seem to have emotional superpowers navigating through an uncertain world and are confident in their path. These executives, professionals and leaders are great contributors to the world and feel significant as a result of their contributions. They have meaningful connections and have passion and love in their intimate relationships. And they have a growth mindset and know that to stagnate is to die. Recalibrate and get on the path of a life of meaning and purpose.
